STEAM Model Development in Abu Dhabi

citiME: The Go-To Experts for STEAM Modelling

The Abu Dhabi STEAM transport modelling system is a robust and widely trusted tool used to support transport strategy planning, land use, and infrastructure development across Abu Dhabi. As a highly detailed and comprehensive model, STEAM encompasses an intricate network and zoning system covering the entire region. Leveraging this powerful platform, citiME has developed deep expertise in transport modelling throughout the Emirates, working with various consultancies on high-profile projects. citiME is currently involved in supporting the use of the STEAM model as part of TMP, TIS and TIP studies.

Using Bentley Systems' OpenPaths software, citiME applies a refined modelling methodology to assess the transport impacts of new developments and new roads. This includes conducting runs of several scenarios within the STEAM model. The process involves the preparation of a Modelling Methodology Report (MMR), input configuration for the multiple modelled years, model execution and the generation of a comprehensive model forecasting report (MFR). This structured approach enables planners and decision-makers to anticipate the impacts of future developments and make informed choices to shape the growth of cities in the Emirates.

We have worked with many consultancies across Abu Dhabi to support on projects of different sizes, which require the use of the STEAM model. We have a unique team of experts in the development and application of the STEAM model, always with the aim of making models and projects better in what they do.
